Overview

A vacancy at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. Cross sector Aseptics Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician. Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking individuals with enthusiasm, flexibility and commitment to join our pharmacy division as Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians. This role is based at Wythenshawe Hospital and includes rotations at all sites in MFT. We offer extensive development opportunities within a supportive and dynamic work environment. Key responsibilities
  • Carry out aseptic preparation including parenteral nutrition, CIVA, cytotoxic drugs, gene therapy and monoclonal antibodies from point of prescription receipt, including accurately measuring volumes and following departmental procedures.
  • Engage in medicines management duties at ward level, such as medicines reconciliation, assessing patients\' own medications and ordering medications.
  • Provide a high-quality dispensing service for all patients within the Trust.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
Qualifications and skills
  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs grades A-C/4-9, which must include Maths, English Language and two science subjects preferably Chemistry and Biology (dual or combined accepted).
  • If you do not possess a Science GCSE but have completed a Level 2 qualification in Pharmacy Services and have at least two years of pharmacy experience, you are still eligible to apply but will complete an additional assessment.
  • Ensure that all GCSE results are clearly documented on your application. If qualifications were obtained overseas, please secure a NARIC certificate before the interview.
  • The ideal candidate will possess the following skills: the ability to work accurately and methodically and under pressure; an excellent eye for detail.
Study and development

Students will virtually attend college on day release to achieve the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practices for Pharmacy Technicians. This is a demanding role and will require study both in work and in your own time. The expectation is to dedicate at least 10 hours each week to facilitate the completion of your studies. You will receive full support from an Educational Supervisor and qualified pharmacy assessors to complete the qualification.
