Job description

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining a tidy and clean Critical Care Unit on a daily basis which will include general cleanliness of equipment and maintenance of clinical cleaning. Duties will include assisting registered nurses ,also maintenance of stock levels in each bed areas . To be involved working collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families .

Main duties of the job

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse assist with basic nursing care, inc all aspects of personal care.

Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.

Assist in transfer of patients, to theatre, catheter lab and other clinical departments within the hospital as directed.

Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment, including clearing and cleaning vacated bed-spaces and preparation for re-use, secure and handle clinical waste and used linen for safe collection and/or disposal, carry out regular mattress checks and record details in line with trust policy

Ensure the Critical Care Area is safe and tidy at all times e.g. remove clutter, tidy notice boards, ensure storage rooms are clean and tidy

Participate in daily cleaning schedules and inform Team Leader if unable to

Job responsibilities

Assist with the preparation of meals, snacks and drinks, assisting patients with feeding as necessary.

Provide reassurance and support to patients and carers/family.

Complete daily cleaning shift.

Carry out spot cleaning and ensure spillages are dealt with swiftly and efficiently.

Ensure general and specialist equipment e.g. drip stands and commodes are cleaned as per cleaning schedule.

Ensure the Critical Care Area is safe and tidy at all times e.g. remove clutter, tidy notice boards, ensure storage rooms are clean and tidy.

Care for patients property and valuables in accordance with Trust policy.

Participate in daily cleaning schedules and inform Team Leader if unable to
