Credit Controller | Group Finance Function

The role

We're looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join a well-established Group finance team, supporting the business through effective, accurate and commercially minded credit control.

This role plays a key part in managing customer relationships, protecting cash flow and supporting order release acting as a trusted interface between the business and its customers. You'll manage your own ledger, work closely with internal stakeholders, and take real ownership of outcomes.

It's a fast-paced environment that suits someone organised, resilient and confident, with a strong sense of responsibility and pride in doing things properly.

What you'll be responsible for
  • Managing outstanding sales balances through proactive customer contact and relationship building
  • Ensuring timely payments and negotiating repayment plans where required
  • Authorising orders in line with credit limits and risk appetite
  • Reviewing new customer applications, assessing creditworthiness and setting limits and terms
  • Monitoring and reviewing credit limits in line with credit agencies and insurers
  • Reconciling customer accounts and accurately allocating payments
  • Managing overdue accounts through structured collection processes, escalating where necessary
  • Handling dispute management end-to-end with a "right first time" approach
  • Working to agreed monthly cash collection targets and reconciling daily cash
  • Keeping knowledge of best practice and business performance up to date
What we're looking for
  • Proven experience in a Credit Control role
  • Comfortable managing your own ledger and prioritising workload
  • Experience with self-billing and high-volume transactions
  • Confident making a high volume of calls and working to deadlines
  • Strong dispute resolution skills with a commercial, solutions-focused mindset
  • Numerate, with the ability to understand and explain financial information clearly
  • Strong Excel skills (advanced reporting capability an advantage)
  • ICM qualification or studying towards preferred, but not essential
