Overview

Job Title: CPU Validation Engineer (Remote - Europe/UK | Outside IR35)

A CPU Validation Engineer is needed to join a reputable, rapidly growing engineering firm that is pushing the boundaries of CPU validation across simulators, FPGA, and silicon environments. The role focuses on ensuring functional correctness, industry compliance, and overall operational excellence.

Location & Contract
  • Fully remote across Europe and the UK
  • Outside IR35
Responsibilities
  • Develop, configure, and execute validation tests across simulation (pre-silicon), FPGA, and silicon platforms—ensuring alignment with specifications and interoperability standards
  • Design and maintain verification infrastructures: test-benches, coverage monitors, assertions, and test plans
  • Debug failures within instruction set simulators, silicon models, and FPGA environments
  • Collaborate closely with architecture, design, and software teams to trace bugs and drive resolution
  • Contribute to building coverage-driven verification frameworks, ensuring thorough spec compliance
Required Skills & Experience
  • Advanced UNIX/Linux Scripting (Makefiles, Bash, Perl, Python, etc.)
  • Expertise in coverage-driven, compliance/interoperability verification and test planning
  • Hands-on experience with instruction set simulators
  • Proficient in SystemVerilog for test and environment development
  • Proven track record developing validation tests across silicon, simulator, and FPGA platforms
Desired (Nice-to-Have) Skills
  • Familiarity with RISC-V ISA and assembly language
  • Experience with simulators such as QEMU, Spike, or Sail
  • Background in open-source hardware or software community contributions
  • Proficiency with GitHub workflows, especially CI and regression test automation
