Hours: Monday to Friday, term-time

Start Date: ASAP

Masterclass Education is working in partnership with a well-regarded and inclusive secondary school in Chichester to recruit a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and is looking to gain valuable classroom experience. You do not need to be a qualified teacher to apply for this role; however, you must be confident presenting and delivering pre-prepared lesson content and managing a classroom environment effectively. The role is particularly well suited to graduates considering a career in teaching, experienced school support staff, or individuals with strong behaviour management skills.

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring students remain on task and engaged with the work set. You will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning across Key Stages 3 and 4, supporting positive behaviour and upholding the school's high standards.

You will be fully involved in school life and supported by teaching and pastoral staff, with clear systems in place to help you succeed in the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise whole classes during planned and unplanned teacher absences
  • Confidently deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and instructions
  • Ensure students remain focused and complete the work set
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy
  • Provide guidance and support to students where needed
  • Report back to teaching staff on lesson outcomes and student behaviour
  • Ensure a safe, structured, and positive learning environment
  • Support the school's values of inclusion, respect, and achievement
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience working with children or young people (education, youth work, coaching, or similar roles)
  • Confidence presenting information to groups and leading a classroom
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • A calm, professional, and adaptable approach
  • The ability to follow lesson plans and school procedures
  • A genuine interest in education and young people's development
