Cover Supervisor / HLTA SEN Support, Lead, and Inspire

Are you confident in managing a classroom and passionate about making a difference for students with additional needs?

Role details

Vision for Education is seeking Cover Supervisors to work across a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools in Somerset and the surrounding areas from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with experience in education or youth work to step into a lead classroom role with full training and support provided.

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor in an SEN setting, you will:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and learning activities in the absence of the class teacher
  • Support students with SEND and SEMH needs in small classes or one-to-one
  • Promote positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment
  • Work alongside experienced SEN professionals to ensure students feel safe, included, and engaged
Who this is ideal for
  • Experienced Teaching Assistants or Learning Mentors ready to step up
  • Graduates exploring a career in teaching or education
  • Individuals with youth work or care experience looking to transition into schools
What we’re looking for
  • Experience supporting young people in education, care, or youth settings
  • Confidence managing classroom behaviour in a positive, calm way
  • An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, SEND and SEMH needs
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
  • A flexible, patient, and resilient approach to challenges

A degree or Level 3 qualification is desirable, but not essential if you have relevant experience.
