Job description
Overview

Couple or two friends as part-time wardens
Vacancy: Couple or two friends as part-time wardens
Employer: Beech Estate Campsite | Location: East Sussex

Beech Estate Campsite is set on a beautiful private 600 acre woodland. We have thirty camping pitches and a camping meadow, including eight bell tents. We operate low noise, family-oriented campsites and no cars are allowed on site. We offer the closest thing to wild camping, with the added luxury of basic facilities. There is mains drinking water and running hot water, but no electricity. The campsite is completely off grid.

We are looking for two part-time wardens to join us at our Beech Estate Campsite in East Sussex for the 2026 season (early March to mid-September).

This off-grid role is ideal for a couple or two friends who love the outdoors, enjoy meeting people, and are looking for an alternative, nature-connected lifestyle.

Responsibilities
  • Daily cleaning tasks (toilets, showers, and bell tents) – this will be the bulk of the work
  • Reception work – welcoming guests and assisting with check-ins
  • Occasional maintenance and grounds work around the campsite
  • Looking after the campsite phone overnight (x3 nights per week per couple) for emergency call-outs
  • Covering the manager’s day off each week – providing full site cover during this time
  • Live onsite as part of a small, friendly team maintaining a peaceful, off-grid woodland site
Hours

Hours will vary throughout the season depending on bookings, weather, and maintenance needs. The ideal candidates will need to be comfortable with fewer hours earlier in the season and an increase during school holidays and busier weekends. This position is best suited to a couple who are happy living in an isolated, off-grid location in East Sussex. Having your own van with a solar setup is preferred.

What We Offer
  • A shared large pitch to park your own campervan or caravan
  • Or we also have an off-grid caravan as an accommodation option
  • Pitch Includes running water, your own compost toilet, a gas hob and gazebo
  • Private fire-pit area
  • Staff firewood allowance provided
  • A unique lifestyle experience surrounded by 600 acres of woodland
  • The chance to live and work in the great outdoors
You’ll Need
  • Your own vehicle (the campsite is a few miles from shops)
  • A love of nature, camping, and meeting new people
  • To be comfortable living off-grid (no electricity, only limited solar power)
  • A detailed and efficient approach to cleaning
  • Good practical/DIY skills and a positive, hands-on attitude
  • To be physically fit – the role includes manual work; the campsite covers 20 acres
  • A friendly and welcoming approach to customers and colleagues
  • To be a great team player with a willingness to help out as needed
