Job summary

A leading staffing agency is seeking a permanent Counterbalance Driver to work in a manufacturing environment in Biggleswade. The role involves adhering to health and safety standards, operating forklifts, and ensuring compliance with quality and hygiene procedures. You'll work a 4 on x 4 off shift pattern from 06:00 to 18:00. Ideal candidates will have experience in forklift operation and a strong understanding of safety and quality processes.

Job description

Our client has a permanent vacancy for a Counterbalance Driver, working within a manufacturing environment based in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. You will be working a 4 on x 4 off shift pattern. 06:00 - 18:00 hours.

  • Responsible for adhering to safe systems of work processes and acting in a safe manner to protect the health and safety of yourself and others at all times.
  • Follow all Quality systems and procedures to ensure our products meet food safety (HACCP), legal and customer requirements as well as maintaining external standards eg BRC, Femas.
  • Use the systems in place to accurately control and co‑ordinate raw materials, packaging, consumables and finished goods.
  • Ensure all Health & Safety documentation and policies are followed and completed.
  • Control OEE, wastage and plant efficiency.
  • Handling and preparation of raw materials used in the manufacture of food products.
  • Ensure all quality documentation and hygiene procedures are followed, and identify potential improvement areas.
  • Manoeuvring forklifts safely in a busy industrial environment.
  • Moving goods from storage areas to loading areas for transport.
  • Unloading deliveries and safely relocating the goods to their designated storage areas.
  • Ensuring that forklift driving areas are free from spills or obstructions.
  • Regularly checking forklift equipment for faults or damages.
  • Using industrial plastic wraps and wooden pallets to safely stack and package goods for transport.
