About the Organisation:
National Services Scotland (NSS) is a national NHS Board operating right at the heart of NHSScotland providing invaluable support and advice at a strategic and operational level. NSS supports customers to deliver their services more efficiently and effectively and we offer shared services on a national scale using best-in-class systems and standards. The Post:
NSS is seeking a highly skilled CPRA to join our Business Finance Team and play a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of NSS and Public Health Scotland (PHS).

Reporting to the Head of Business Finance, you will lead the development and delivery of high-quality financial reporting and strategic planning across NSS and PHS. With a combined annual revenue budget of approximately £1.3 bn, this role is central to ensuring financial sustainability, governance, and optimal business performance.

This is a high-impact role requiring strong analytical skills, strategic foresight, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences.

The Candidate:
We are looking for candidates who have experience of delivering financial management advice and guidance to Senior Managers and Budget Holders at all levels.

Candidates must demonstrate:

  • Extensive post-qualification experience in financial and business management within a large, complex organisation.
  • Proven expertise in financial planning, reporting, and performance analysis.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial systems and tools, including Excel, Tableau, Collaborative Planning, and Blackline.
  • A track record of driving continuous improvement and delivering results under pressure.

You’ll be comfortable working autonomously, managing competing priorities, and collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality financial services that support strategic decision-making.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Location and Working Pattern:
Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Delta House, Glasgow.

Currently hybrid working.

Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.

Benefits:
Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.
