Coroner's Officer | 9352 | Permanent Contract | 37 hours per week | £37,280 - £39,152 per annum | Scale I | Norwich The County Council is responsible for ensuring that the Senior Coroner has the resources and support to deliver an excellent Coroners service for the people of Norfolk. The Senior Coroner and Area Coroners are supported by Coroners Officers, who undertake the investigation of cases and by a team of administrative staff. We are seeking a full time Coroners Officer on a permanent contract.

Reporting to the Senior Coroners Officer, you will receive and investigate reports of deaths, liaise with bereaved families, doctors, pathologists, investigating officers and external agencies to produce reports and inquest files on behalf of H.M Coroner.

You will need to be able to deal with the public, during a difficult time for them, sensitively and professionally and be able to use your own initiative. You will be required to manage your cases in a timely manner to ensure cases are ready for court, working with instruction from the Coroner to compile all required information. With excellent communication skills, you will need to be organised, prioritising your workload to complete tasks to strict deadlines. Working confidentially is essential in the sensitive environment of the Coroners Service. The resilience to cope with situations and material of a potentially distressing nature is required, along with the ability to work in a high‑pressured environment.

Based at the Coroners Office in County Hall, Norwich, this is an exciting opportunity to join a busy team in a key role supporting the operations of the Senior Coroner for Norfolk.
