About APST

Our Alternative Provision Specialist Taskforce (APST) is a team of specialists based onsite at Kingsland School. Their focus is undertaking integrated, child-centred work with pupils, responsively information-sharing, as well as sharing their expertise and embedding their practice in the school and across the borough of Oldham.

Requirements of the Post

This temporary vacancy in our Alternative Provision Specialist Taskforce (APST) provides a great opportunity for a confident and experienced individual who is dedicated to supporting pupils and improving their educational experience.

The role of the Coordinator & Behaviour Manager requires someone who has expertise in attendance management, team management, the statutory framework for exclusions, training and reintegration.

This role plays a vital part in ensuring that a high-quality service is delivered supporting the needs of pupils who require help to overcome a range of barriers.

An expectation of the role is to uphold and implement the school behaviour policy adopting the systems in school to support behaviour management. Full training will be given.

Main Duties
  • Ensure robust systems are in place to promote successful reintegration.
  • Line manage and co-ordinate multi agency professionals to meet the needs of the service.
  • Ensure the school meets its statutory obligation in relation to the exclusion day 6 requirements.
  • Be responsible for the allocation of work across a team of professionals.
  • Support and promote the good behaviour of pupils at all times
  • Promote the emotional well‑being of pupils and support pupils in making healthy, safe lifestyle choices.
  • Promote and uphold the school Policies and school rules relating to pupil conduct and learning.
About Kingsland School

Kingsland School is a split site provision catering for pupils aged 11 16 years of age.

Our Broadbent Road site is a Pupil Referral Unit which offers Day 6 provision for those pupils who have been permanently excluded from an Oldham Secondary School or Academy. Our second site, known as Laurel Bank, currently hosts our Specialist Learning Centre and is based in Shaw, Oldham. This provision is for pupils experiencing social, emotional or mental health and medical needs which creates a barrier to their attendance at school. This site also hosts our unique provision catering for pupils from the SLC with an Educational Health Care Plan and is the base for our Primary Outreach Service.

The successful candidate will work with a committed and supportive staff team.
