Conveyancing Paralegal/Legal Assistant – Residential Conveyancing – Abingdon

Salary:£25,000-£35,000 (depending on experience)

Location:Abingdon (hybrid working / flexible hours considered)

About the Client

The client is an established full-service law firm based in Abingdon with a busy residential conveyancing team. It is seeking a motivated Conveyancing Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for LPC graduates or ambitious candidates looking to demonstrate potential and progress toward a full Solicitor training contract.

The Role

You will support the conveyancing team with residential property matters, providing essential assistance to Fee-Earners and Senior Solicitors.

The role includes:

  • Managing residential conveyancing files, ensuring all registrations, SDLT submissions and related tasks are completed efficiently
  • Preparing and submitting HM Land Registry applications, including first registrations, lease extensions, removal of notices/restrictions and transfers
  • Liaising with mortgage companies, management companies and other third-party contacts
  • Assisting with file closures, client balances and compliance checks
  • Supporting Fee-Earners and Senior Solicitors, with opportunities to take on increasing responsibilities over time
Candidate Requirements

Essential:

  • Experience in residential conveyancing or legal assistant support
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Confidence liaising with mortgage firms, management companies and other third parties

Desirable:

  • Exposure to Land Registry applications, SDLT submissions, first registrations, lease extensions, or removal of notices/restrictions
  • Familiarity with case management systems
