Control Systems Engineer | Nuclear Consultancy | Reading (Hybrid 3 days per week on-site) | Up to £70,000 | SC Clearance Eligibility Required

MERITUS are partnering with a leading Nuclear Consultancy seeking a talented Control Systems Engineer to join a client facing project in Reading. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced automation or control systems specialist to play a pivotal role in the design, development, and integration of complex control systems used in mission-critical environments.

As part of this innovative engineering team, you'll work on cutting-edge Siemens PLC-based systems across multiple nuclear projects. The role offers the chance to contribute to highly regulated and technically challenging environments where safety, precision, and reliability are paramount. You'll be working within a culture that values professional growth, collaboration, and technical excellence.

They require candidates to be eligible for Security clearance to a minimum of SC level.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop and commission control system architectures using Siemens PLCs and related automation hardware.
  • Create and maintain functional design specifications, control philosophies, and system documentation in line with defence standards.
  • Support system integration, testing, and fault diagnosis across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Ensure all control system solutions meet regulatory, safety, and quality compliance within a highly regulated industry environment.
Required Skills:
  • Proven experience with Siemens PLC programming, configuration, and troubleshooting (TIA Portal or Step 7).
  • Strong background in control system design and automation within a regulated industry (e.g., Defence, Aerospace, Nuclear, or Energy).
  • Excellent understanding of systems integration, instrumentation, and process control principles.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Control, or Systems Engineering (or related discipline).
