Overview

Contracts Manager
Location - London
The Contract Manager provides Prime Contract support and oversees and manages specific commercial processes on the project to aid the joint venture in meeting its obligations under the Prime Contract.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to the Lead Contract Manager in matters relating to the management and administration of the Prime Contract, including:
  • Drafting contractual notifications and correspondence for review
  • Identifying/flagging-up potential commercial risks to the JV, including Disallowed Cost risks
  • Supporting the Lead Contract Manager to respond promptly to contract queries raised by project team members
  • Processing/administering Change Request Forms (CRFs) in Aconex, including QA checks of draft CRFs prior to submission for approval and change management-related cost system administration
  • Ensuring CRFs are turned around/approved in a timely fashion to support delivery processes and contract management on the project
  • Managing the project's Delegated Authority process for the approval of CRFs in line with the project's DA matrix, including low value changes which do not require board-level approval
  • Change control reporting, including updating and maintaining the Project Change Log and tracking, monitoring and reporting of DA expenditure against DA limits each period
  • Ensuring that the Change Management Procedure is kept up-to-date
  • Providing change control training/briefings to the project team, where required
  • Managing the Central Contract Communication (CCC) process used for issuing project-wide communications/instructions to the supply chain, including CRFs approved through change control which affect multiple subcontractors. This will include:
    • Identifying any CRFs which require a CCC, post-approval, to effectively communicate/implement the change
    • Assisting in drafting contractual correspondence and instructions to be issued to the supply chain as CCCs
    • Checking contractual clauses under which CCCs are to be issued and whether they constitute a change under subcontract terms and conditions
    • Updating and managing the CCC tracker
  • Undertaking Contract Compliance Audits (CCAs) and commercial health checks on select subcontracts
  • Administration of the NEC3 PSC (Option E) contract between the JV and the specialist, cost verification consultant appointed on the project
  • Supporting the processes for commercial close-out of packages and progressive assessment of Defined Cost under the Prime Contract
  • Helping to field contract administration-related queries from the team
  • Setting up new subcontracts in the contract administration system (Aconex)
  • Maintaining the project's Commercial Management Hub
Technical Skills and Competencies
  • Proven knowledge of all aspects of commercial management
  • Knowledge of various forms of NEC Contracts
  • Knowledge of integrated reporting
  • Knowledge of IT systems relevant to Commercial Control
  • Knowledge of programmes and change management
  • Ability to use IT applications
Qualifications, Certifications and Experience
  • Experience in commercial management
  • Experience of working in major (£100M+) projects
  • Formal qualification RICS or similar
  • Behavioural competencies

  • Ability to focus on detail at the same time as seeing the strategic picture
