Job Title: Contracts Manager
Location: Clevedon
Key Responsibilities
This person will be responsible for managing and leading the Projects Team, internal departments, and site labour. The role involves project planning, customer liaison, and leadership of engineering project teams to deliver installation and refurbishment works for wastewater equipment.
Physical & Other Requirements
- Current valid driving licence.
- Passport.
- Able to work outside on sites related to wastewater.
- Able to carry out work tasks that involve physical strength, stamina, standing, kneeling, or crouching.
- Occasional overnight stays may be required.
Competency & Qualifications
- Engineering qualified to Degree/HND or equivalent, or qualified by experience.
- Some years experience working on industrial or engineering equipment; water industry/environmental experience required.
- SMSTS site safety management certification (minimum).
- Knowledge of NEC 3 Contracts.
- Project management training with experience in planning and coordination.
- Success in delivering engineering projects to tight deadlines.
- Proven management experience leading teams for time-critical engineering projects.
- Preferred: Confined spaces to City and Guilds qualification.
- Preferred: Manual handling qualification.
- Sound knowledge of industrial mechanical installation and maintenance.
- Experience with installation, commissioning, and setting up of mechanical/electrical equipment and controls.
- Knowledge of wastewater screens and associated systems.
- Knowledge of health & safety issues in the construction industry.
- Ability to prioritise own workload and staff, working systematically within deadlines.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to undertake risk assessments.
- Experience operating Gantt charts.
- Good business acumen.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and customer service skills.
Key Duties
- Take ownership of all assigned jobs and lead the Projects Team to deliver them.
- Coordinate all Area of Responsibility activities and manage assigned projects to deliver quality service meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
- Carry out site inspections and compile survey reports for quotation purposes.
- Ensure that project managers initiate, plan, execute, control, and closeout projects per defined parameters, updating all jobs on company software as required.
- Estimate jobs within contractual time constraints, producing solutions and quotations for customers to maximise profits while maintaining quality and customer service.
- Provide specific job costings and implement financial controls where needed.
- Ensure effective leadership and management of on-site staff regarding time, quality, efficiencies, cost, safety, and other defined parameters.
- Provide detailed project reports, including Gantt charts, on request and brief on your Area of Responsibility at the weekly Operations Coordination meeting.
- Liaise and support other departments as needed to meet business objectives and advance company progress.
- Maximise sales opportunities by offering innovative solutions and encouraging personnel to do the same.
- Utilise a consultative problem‑solving approach to deliver excellent customer satisfaction.
- Be responsible for the profit and loss of the projects.
