Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Contract Mechanical Design Engineer. The role involves designing and developing mechanical equipment, including pressure systems, and producing 3D CAD models and fabrication drawings. Strong 3D CAD skills and mechanical design experience in pressure vessels and associated equipment are essential. Candidates should be able to start almost immediately and ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Mechanical design experience in pressure vessels, autoclaves or high–pressure plant equipment.
• Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks / Inventor or similar).
• Good knowledge of fabrication, materials, tolerances and design for manufacture.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop pressure systems and related mechanical equipment.
• Produce 3D CAD models, fabrication drawings, BOMs and specifications.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g. PD5500, ASME VIII, EN).
• Liaise with suppliers/fabricators and support technical queries through manufacture.

• Design and develop pressure systems and related mechanical equipment
