Job summary

A leading academic healthcare institution in London is seeking a Consultant Radiologist to provide comprehensive diagnostic services, including CT, ultrasound, and MRI. The successful candidate will engage in teaching and supervising students while overseeing high-quality clinical services. Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists and previous training experience is required. This position involves participation in an on-call rota and collaboration with other specialists across locations including St George's Hospital.

Qualifications

  • CCT in Radiology or equivalent training and experience.

Job description
Overview

Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist to join a friendly and cohesive team of radiologists with diverse expertise in a busy department and a strong record in teaching and training. The applicant would be expected to join the existing radiologists in providing a comprehensive diagnostic radiology. The post-holder will also support the running of service in our main department at St George's Hospital. A standard full-time Job Plan will contain 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) including 8 PAs for direct clinical care and 2 supporting PAs. Sessions will be a mix of acute/emergency work and outpatient reporting. On-call commitment is required. The post also includes teaching of undergraduates and radiology registrars in the department.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a comprehensive diagnostic radiology service including general plain radiography, CT, ultrasound, and MRI.
  • Provide general diagnostic adult sessions in CT and plain film reporting as part of integration with the wider department.
  • Lead uroradiology MDTs, including experience of bladder, renal, and prostate reporting and case management.
  • Engage in testicular and penile speciality reporting and MDT delivery as part of the role alongside delivering with the wider urology tertiary team.
  • Oversee and ensure high-quality clinical services within the Radiology Department, in collaboration with other radiologists.
  • Participate in a full-time diagnostic on-call rota (approximately 1:15) with regular weekend working and time off in lieu.
  • Teach and supervise students and trainees (undergraduates and radiology registrars) in the department.
  • Contribute to service development and potential expansion of sessional and weekend working, with reviews of the job plan within 3 months of appointment.
  • Most sessions will be based at St George's, with some evening sessions or lists at Nelson or Queen Mary's Roehampton as needed.
Qualifications

The successful applicant will have the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists and a CCT in Radiology or equivalent training and experience.
