Job description
What is involved?

As the Consultant Surveyor focusing on Acquisitions and Disposals you will ensure the team is proactively dealing with acquisitions and disposals. You will be responsible for managing a team of surveyors carrying out acquisitions, disposals and valuations on a daily basis. You will work closely with other public and private sector partners.

  • Valuations – conducting complex valuations for acquisitions and disposals.
  • Negotiations – leading negotiations for acquiring land and buildings as well as selling surplus assets.
  • Strategy – aligning property activities with the Council’s overall strategic goals and investment programmes, including supporting land and buildings rationalisation scheme and delivery of regeneration projects across County Durham.
  • Market Research – researching property markets, planning issues, and legislation.
  • Appraisals – preparing options appraisals for development and investment opportunities.
  • Reporting – producing reports, recommending terms, and preparing sales documentation.

What will I need?

You will need the following:

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject, or relevant professional qualification.
  • Full Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.

You will have a proven track record of delivery of measures to improve and delivery property and land-based functions as well as experience of managing budgets. Please refer to the attached person specification for the full criteria.
