Main duties of the job

Join Our Expert Respiratory Team!

We seek skilled Consultant Respiratory Physicians to enhance our team of consultants. You will contribute to adult general internal medicine (1:12 rota) and play a key role in delivering timely bronchoscopies. Our Diagnostic Investigation Unit boasts a thoracic ultrasound service, ensuring top‑tier diagnostics. Your schedule will include clinic sessions with allocated administration time for a smooth workflow.

As part of our team of nine consultants, you will lead Respiratory Services across Northern Lincolnshire. Our department offers comprehensive respiratory care, supporting a Home Ventilation Programme for 100 patients and housing an Endobronchial Ultrasound System established in 2020. We aim to expand further with Medical Thoracoscopy.

You will also contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, working closely with Hull York Medical School (HYMS) and participating in the training of advanced care practitioners with Sheffield University.

Job responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide a first‑class clinical service and leadership to junior doctors and medical students.
  • Work in close cooperation with clinical, medical, professional and managerial colleagues.
  • Deliver care in accordance with Trust procedures and operating policies.
  • Ensure evidence‑based practice and ongoing professional development and revalidation.
  • Lead and develop the Respiratory Service across North Lincolnshire as part of a team of nine consultants.
  • Support a Home Ventilation Programme and Endobronchial Ultrasound Service (established 2020) with a view to expansion (including Medical Thoracoscopy).
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching with HYMS and training of advanced care practitioners with Sheffield University.

Qualifications
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification; MRCP
  • Full GMC registration at time of appointment
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Training acceptable to the Royal College of Physicians for appointment to Consultant Status
  • Entry on Specialist Register via CCT (or proposed CCT date within six months of interview), CESR or European Community Rights
  • Evidence of specific training in Respiratory Medicine
  • English medical training or IELTS overall 7.5 (speaking 7.5, listening 7.5, reading 7.5, writing 7.5) or OET at Grade B in all areas
  • Commitment to maintaining professional skills and knowledge
  • ALS Provider certificate
  • Evidence of involvement in Clinical Research
  • Evidence of participation in Clinical Audit
