Set within landscaped gardens in Stockport, Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal offers a range of comprehensive inpatient mental health services for young people and adults. The focus of our service is to help people live their best life in a safe and supportive environment.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients\' wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.

  • You will contribute to the development of, and audit of services, at your site and more broadly when required and asked by your Head of Psychology.
  • You will work with a dynamic multi-professional team leading development of individual formulations and psychological assessment. With the support of other members of the psychology team, you will support the development and delivery of behavioural and other psychological interventions for patients and service users and provide appropriately developed psychologically informed guidance to reduce risks, aid recovery and independence.
  • You will provide support and guidance to other psychologists, assistants and trainee psychologists.
  • You will be working with clients with complex needs that are relevant to the population in the service area.
What you'll bring to the role

Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.

The ideal candidate will have a confident grasp of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) along with proficiency in at least two other therapeutic modalities, one of which should include training in interventions suitable for working with location-specific or relevant clinical disorders. They should demonstrate a solid understanding and application of therapeutic principles, with a willingness to undertake additional training if not already completed.
