Job summary

A regional health care provider in Kendal is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join their Older Adult community mental health team. This full-time role involves conducting community clinics, home visits, and participating in multidisciplinary team meetings. Job description
Overview

We are seeking to recruit a substantive Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Older Adult CMHT based in Kendal, on the cusp of the Lake District. The post is full‑time (10 PA). Come and join an area of natural beauty on the edge of the Lake District. The well‑established CMHT is based at Barclays House in Kendal. This is a varied role involving community clinics, home visits, care home liaison and a MAS clinic. There is a Consultant colleague also working in this team and an extremely active undergraduate programme. The post will also have a core trainee attached from August 25. There is an active monthly peer group meeting of medical colleagues within the Cumbria locality too.

Team and Working Pattern

The post holder will work with a multidisciplinary team including nurse consultant, Psychologist, clinical leads, community mental health nurses, occupational therapy HCA and trainee advanced clinical practitioner.

Application Requirements

Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be included on the Specialist Register of the GMC or they should be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within six months of the interview date. It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or are eligible to have Approved Clinician Status. Remuneration will be as set out in the terms of the New Consultant Contract according to previous experience.

Salary and Benefits
  • At least 2.5 SPAs as standard for a full‑time post (we would be flexible in looking at enhancements to support other activities that support the wider ambitions of the Trust).
  • This post will attract a Recruitment & Retention Premia of £40,000 payable on commencement of employment.
  • Eligibility criteria do apply. Please note that staff currently employed by the Trust would not be eligible to apply for this recruitment and retention premia.
Role Expectations

The postholder will be expected to participate on the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration will be payable (0.5 PA + 5% supplement).
