We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our integrated mental health team at HMP Wealstun. HMP Wealstun is a category C prison located in Thorpe Arch, that houses around 800 patients aged 21+. You will join an established mental health team providing a nurse-led service with a medical model diagnosis for complex health needs. Typical caseload is 4-5 patients per day.

Hours

2.5 days per week across Tuesday, Wednesday and one additional half day. The half day can be used to complete admin work on site.

Salary

Annual salary up to £189,900 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment are subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main duties

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the onsite caseload
  • Participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision
  • Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi-professional complex case reviews
