Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our mental health team at HMP Stocken. HMP Stocken is a Category C training prison housing around 1,056 patients, the majority of whom are aged between 21‑40 years. You will be working close with the multidisciplinary team to deliver support to adult males with complex mental health and trauma needs.

Hours

20 hours per week, across 2.5 days. We can create a rolling rota for this role, working 2 days one week and 3 days the next, and are flexible on which days are worked (Monday to Friday).

Salary

This position is 20 hours per week; you will receive an annual salary up to £186,480 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

  • You will be able to attend monthly Consultant’s meetings and 1:1 clinical supervision.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK, and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main duties
  • Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the case‑load onsite.
  • Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead senior clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision.
  • Work within the multidisciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multidisciplinary complex case reviews.

Qualifications required
  • Registered professional with current GMC registration.

  • Up‑to‑date knowledge in adult psychiatry and personality disorder.
