Job description
Overview

A vacancy at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon with a specialist interest in Gender Surgery, the post-holder will have demonstrated expertise in undertaking primary and revision masculinis ing chest surgery, and be willing to grow our masculinising lower surgery programme, including the set-up and delivery of pedicled and free-flap phalloplasty. The post holder must be committed to research and innovation in the field of gender surgery. The role requires close work with colleagues in the Trust and allied organisations as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to quality improvement, research and management of the service. The post-holder will engage in management tasks and contribute to service meetings as required.

The post holder will have the following duties:

  • Deliver outpatient clinics, diagnostic procedures and theatre lists to support the service.
  • Attendance at MDT meetings.
  • Participation in audit, research and governance activities of the department.
  • Ensure compliance with national commissioning standards and waiting time targets.
  • Support subspecialisation in the department by appropriate cross referral to colleagues.
  • Provide consultant care at an early stage to patients presenting to secondary care with presumed plastic surgical complications of gender surgery.
  • Contribute to the routine care of GAS inpatients, rotating this responsibility with colleagues.
  • To promote early and safe discharge of patients, including day case chest surgery.
  • Strong commitment to the organisation and delivery of training.
