Overview

This post is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, experienced pharmacist with strategic vision, drive and excellent clinical and leadership skills to work as a consultant pharmacist in hepatology. Applications are welcomed from credentialled consultant pharmacists. Pharmacists who have prepared a portfolio for submission, but are not yet credentialled, will be considered for appointment with progression criteria only in the event that no credentialled pharmacists are shortlisted.

The post holder will provide consultant level expert care to hepatology patients at King's and across the South Thames and Kent Operational Delivery Network (ODN) which covers Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust and Kent hospitals. The post holder will work in conjunction with stakeholders to deliver an efficient, high quality, professional and well-coordinated service within hepatology.

Applicants will work with a high degree of autonomy, have excellent communication skills, an ability to manage complex relationships across multiple organisations and be able to demonstrable a high level of work in expert practice, research, education and professional leadership.

Responsibilities
  • The consultant pharmacist will have day-to-day leadership and management responsibility for the development and delivery of effective pharmacy specific arrangements within the South Thames and Kent ODN. This will include ensuring engagement of patients, professionals and constituent organisations in medication related activities that support the delivery of national outcome ambitions in line with the South Thames and Kent ODN needs and resources.
  • The post holder will work in conjunction with the Hepatology and ODN Clinical Leads to develop the provision of an efficient, high quality, professional and well-coordinated service capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements. Thereby ensuring alignment with the activity of the NHS Special Commissioning Board and local provider organisations. They will have a high degree of autonomy and authority at a network level leading and representing on all medicines finance, prescribing and medicines optimisation matters related to hepatology. The post is central to effective integrated service delivery and strategic planning across a wide range of stakeholders. The post holder will need to work across Trusts, specialties, departments and across hospital and community based services.

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacy Practice
  • Registered Independent Prescriber
  • Specialist competencies in area relevant to practice or relevant short courses taught at postgraduate level
  • Registered Pharmacist MRPharmS - Credentialled Consultant Pharmacist
