Consultant Pharmacist - Haemato-Oncology and Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMP) - 8C
Barts Health has an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced and motivated pharmacist to join the pharmacy department in a Consultant Pharmacist for Haemato-Oncology and Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMP).
This post will have leadership and management responsibility for the development and delivery of effective pharmacy services for ATMPs. The post holder will work with specialist clinical leads, clinical trials (R&D), pharmacy aseptic staff and Quality Assurance specialists to develop a high quality, well-coordinated service meeting statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements relating to ATMPs including clinical trials. The Consultant Pharmacist will operate under four main functions relating to expert practice: professional leadership; education, mentoring and overview of practice; and research, evaluation and service development.
The position is based at St Bartholomew's Hospital and may involve visits to other sites within Barts Health.

Key duties
- Strategically lead and develop pharmacy services for ATMPs and Haemato-Oncology for the Trust.
- Act as a role model and national expert in ATMPs, ensuring a high level of pharmacy input in line with corporate objectives and NHS England policy.
- Provide expert advice to the Trust and pharmacy clinical trials teams on ATMP manufacture, procurement, use and adherence to legislation.
- Promote safe medicines management for ATMPs across the Trust and act as an expert resource regionally and nationally.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop a model of care delivery for ATMPs, including prescribing, preparation, storage, dispensing, administration and patient monitoring (initially for CAR-T cells).
- Lead education and development in ATMPs and Haemato-Oncology for Trust staff regionally and nationally.
- Accept referrals from clinical staff regarding introduction of ATMPs, providing expert opinion and consultancy support where appropriate.
- Ensure cost effective prescribing by working with commissioners to manage budgets, formulate cost improvement plans and monitor potential savings.

Qualifications
Essential
- MPharm or equivalent
- Registered as a pharmacist with the GPhC
- Postgraduate Pharmacy Qualification or equivalent experience (minimum Postgraduate Diploma level)
- Specialist competencies in area relevant to practice or relevant short courses taught at postgraduate level
- Independent prescribing qualification and actively using the qualification
- Evidence demonstrating competencies that meet the RPS Consultant Pharmacist Curriculum (including the RPS Advanced Pharmacy Practice Framework competencies)
Desirable
- Management qualification
- MSc in pharmacy practice or equivalent
- Credentialed as a consultant pharmacist
- Royal Pharmaceutical Society membership
Experience

- Proven experience delivering responsibilities and objectives on time in previous posts
- Extensive post-registration hospital experience with highly specialist clinical pharmacy services and accountability for service delivery
- Significant experience and knowledge in ATMP delivery
- Demonstrated mastery level competencies in expert professional practice, leadership and relationships (RPS Advanced Practice Framework)
- Experience contributing to national policies and consultations
- Experience working with senior healthcare professionals outside of Pharmacy to achieve Trust developments
- Project management and supervision of a range of projects (clinical audits, QI, research)
- Experience conducting own research and presenting abstracts at conferences
- Experience managing staff (performance management, CPD facilitation, learning needs assessment, appraisals and feedback)
