A healthcare provider in the UK is seeking a Consultant in Rheumatology based at St Mary's Hospital in Newport. You will join a friendly team and help deliver a comprehensive range of Rheumatology services. The successful candidate will support training for both postgraduate and undergraduate students. The role includes various professional activities, with no on-call commitments. Qualifications required include an MBBS or equivalent and MRCP. Upgrade your quality of life! We need a new colleague to join the Rheumatology team on the Isle of Wight due to the retirement of one of the two existing whole time Consultants. This post is based exclusively at St Mary's Hospital in Newport. There are no on call commitments. You will be joining our friendly team consisting of 2 full‑time equivalent Consultants, 1 Wessex Regional Trainee Doctor, 2 Rheumatology nurse specialists and 2 osteoporosis nurse specialists as well as our great dedicated administrative team.
We are looking for a great new colleague to continue to deliver and extend the comprehensive range of Rheumatology and DEXA services that we offer to the island's population. The successful candidate will be supported in developing subspecialty interests and also encouraged to have a direct involvement in the Wessex Deanery specialty training programme as well as supporting the undergraduate training of Medical students from Southampton. There are also opportunities to develop mainland links or research interests as appropriate.

The job plan is a prospective agreement that sets out the consultant’s duties, responsibilities and objectives for the coming year. It covers all aspects of the consultant’s professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. It will provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external, and will include personal objectives that link to wider service objectives.
The planned Professional Activities (PA) include 1.5 Core Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) with additional SPA allocations to be agreed. After six months in post the SPA allocation will be reviewed, with any necessary adjustments made to a minimum of 1.5 SPA. One SPA may be worked flexibly and off‑site if desired, in accordance with agreement with the LNC. The Job Plan will be reviewed at 3 months and annually thereafter by the Clinical Director/Lead Clinician.
