A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Consultant in Paediatric Neurology at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. The successful candidate will support the Neuromuscular Team and contribute to outpatient care. Essential qualifications include completion of core training in Paediatric Neurology and full GMC registration. Teaching and audit experience are also required. This permanent full-time role offers a competitive salary and is vital for serving the neurological needs of children in the North West of England.
The Department of Paediatric Neurology is one of the longest established in Britain. It is supported by 8.5 WTE consultants based at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (RMCH) with links to support the Lancaster and South Cumbria population served by Royal Preston Hospital. The Paediatric Neurology department also has specialized services including a long-standing Neuromuscular Service, an acquired brain injury service and specialised clinics including neuroimmunology, neurovascular and Neurofibromatosis. The department is one of the 4 centres in England chosen to provide a service for children's epilepsy surgery, run jointly with Alder Hey Children's Hospital. The ketogenic diet service is one of the largest in the country with 60 patients currently.
The Manchester Paediatric Neurology Service provides care for children with neurological disorders throughout the North West of England. The post-holder, though based at RMCH, will contribute to this outreach model of outpatient care. This post is to support the Neuromuscular Team, which is a MDUK Centre of Excellence. RMCH is a Gene Therapy Centre for SMA and has an active portfolio of neuromuscular clinical trials.
