Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology with a special interest in Early pregnancy and Emergency Gynaecology

One of your referees should be the Medical Director / Chief Medical Officer of your most recent NHS employer (or their nominated deputy), or equivalent for applicants from outside of the NHS.

For applicants from outside of the NHS, referees to validate a period of three consecutive years of employment.

For internal candidates, your referees should be your Clinical Director and Clinical Lead.

For applicants who are still in a training post, or have completed training within the past year and have not worked in a non-training NHS role since then, a reference from EACH of your two most recent Educational Supervisors.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide Consultant-led and delivered care in different aspects of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with special focus on providing clinical care for antenatal diabetic care and paediatric and young persons Gynaecology services.

The candidate is expected to have experience in having worked in both of these areas of specialist interest and have experience in contributing to the service delivery in obstetrics and benign gynaecology.

Job responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity for a substantive NHS Consultant appointments in the Womens Care Group at Medway Maritime Hospital in Kent. The posts will commence as soon as possible.

This post is in a busy department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The successful candidates will provide a Consultant-led and delivered care in different aspects of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The candidates are expected to have worked independently in clinical settings managing gynaecological outpatients for benign conditions, outpatient procedure clinics day surgery and inpatient theatres. The posts will attract 10-programmed activities according to the new contract and the candidate is expected to provide on-call services for obstetrics and gynaecology.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practice
  • MBBS or Equivalent
  • Specialist registration within specialty or within 6 months of CCT
Experience
  • ATSM in early pregnancy and emergency gynaecology
  • ATSM in menopause care
  • Experience in late termination of pregnancy
  • Ability to work independently in clinics, theatres and on-call
Knowledge
  • Knowledge about risk management and clinical governance
  • Knowledge of appraising performance & dealing with poor performance
  • Experience of teaching junior medical staff.
  • Evidence of involvement in teaching and education
