Job description

We have been assigned by one of the UK's most prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Care of the Elderly on either a Substantive or NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful department.

Our client is looking for someone to join their friendly and dynamic team, which consists of 14 consultants. They have established services in movement disorders, syncope, stroke, ortho-geriatrics, and bone health. Additionally, they have newly established and rapidly developing services in front door frailty and cardiology liaison (PULSE).

You will be joining one of the largest acute Trusts in the country, with over 13,000 staff and 100+ clinical services across 10 sites, serving a population of over 500,000. The trust is rated 'Good' by the CQC, and their staff are committed to delivering excellent patient care, advancing research, and innovation with both local and global impacts.

The successful candidate will be responsible for caring for complex, frail elderly patients on the Older Persons Admissions Unit (OPAU) and on the core care of the elderly ward. Duties include participation in Clinical Governance & Audit, assisting with administrative tasks, and supporting the department's development of specialist interests. The department aims to expand care models for frail elderly patients, including services in Stroke, Frailty, Orthogeriatrics, and Parkinson's.
