Overview

The Education Specialists are looking for an experienced Construction Tutor to join a friendly team in a mixed SEND School providing support for 14 to 19 year old students. This is an alternative educational setting aimed at supporting students with a primary need of SEMH. Our School boasts excellent vocational facilities including Construction, Hairdressing, Catering and Physical Education. We have a fantastic and dedicated team. The successful candidate will be able to plan and deliver active, creative and engaging lessons and will contribute to the classroom experience of our talented and enthusiastic learners, within a hardworking team with high standards. As a highly engaged and motivated tutor, you will have a genuine desire to improve the life chances of our learners.

Responsibilities
  • Teach and help learners with practical assignments across varying construction trades.
  • Providing tutorial and pastoral support to students
  • Provide guidance in a classroom style setting.
  • Assist with the assessment and monitoring of students.
  • Complete all administrative work concerned with the assessments to required standards.
  • An understanding of and commitment to the welfare and safety of children
Essential Requirements
  • Teaching/Assessing qualifications in Construction
  • An ability to build trust and rapport with young people is essential
  • Resilient
  • An ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Experience of working with SEN/behavioural students
  • An understanding and competence of Quality Assurance in Construction
  • An ability to follow and create a scheme of work, lesson plans, and assessments
  • Teaching Qualification; PTLLS, DTLLS, CTLLS, PGCE, QTS (or equivalent)
