Daily rate: Competitive and based on experience
Location: London

This position is ideal for someone who is immediately available and eager to contribute their expertise in risk and compliance within a supportive and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the firm’s continued commitment to ethical standards, regulatory compliance, and business protection processes. With the chance to work alongside knowledgeable professionals and support high-profile clients, this role offers exposure to complex conflict-of-interest scenarios and the opportunity to make a real impact. Flexible working arrangements are available, and you will be part of an inclusive culture that values your input and encourages professional growth.

Particular focus areas include working closely with experienced legal professionals in a collaborative environment, flexible locations across London, Bristol, or Manchester, and being part of an award-winning team focused on diversity, inclusion, and professional development.

What you’ll do

  • Investigate new mandates to determine whether they can be accepted in light of current conflicts and compliance requirements, considering both internal policies and external regulations.
  • Support legal teams by providing reliable advice on conflict queries, assisting with reviewing search results, and responding promptly to questions regarding conflict analysis.
  • Review and analyse detailed conflict reports to identify any actual or potential legal or commercial conflicts of interest or confidentiality concerns.
  • Assess new instructions against conduct rules and the firm’s risk appetite, ensuring all matters align with established policies before acceptance.
  • Examine changes to existing instructions for emerging conflict issues, collaborating with partners and fee earners to resolve any challenges arising from evolving matter scopes.
  • Identify conditions under which mandates may be accepted or continued, ensuring all necessary safeguards are in place for ongoing client engagements.
  • Investigate information within the firm’s conflict management systems to ensure accurate record-keeping and effective risk mitigation.
  • Support the wider team in implementing information barriers where required, maintaining confidentiality and protecting sensitive data throughout the process.
  • Respond efficiently to ad hoc queries from partners and lawyers regarding conflicts of interest or engagement risk issues as they arise.
  • Escalate complex conflict queries appropriately to senior members of the Risk team in line with established escalation procedures.

What you bring

  • A graduate background with at least one year’s experience working within a risk and compliance function focused on conflicts of interest within the legal sector.
  • Comprehensive understanding of professional conflicts rules applicable in England and Wales; additional familiarity with Scotland or Northern Ireland regulations would be advantageous.
  • Practical experience using Intapp or similar client onboarding tools is preferred for efficient workflow management.
  • Demonstrated ability to prevent, identify, and manage conflicts of interest effectively through careful analysis and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to collaborate closely with colleagues across departments while building strong relationships at all levels.
  • Proven organisational abilities allowing you to prioritise tasks efficiently while managing stakeholder expectations in a busy environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills essential for providing clear advice on complex issues both internally and externally.
  • Commercial awareness combined with analytical thinking enables you to assess risks pragmatically while supporting business objectives.
  • A dependable approach that supports team goals through co-operation, empathy, reliability, and sensitivity towards others’ perspectives.
