Job description

Are you an inspiring Computing Teacher or someone with strong Computing knowledge looking for your next opportunity?

We're supporting a rapidly improving secondary school on the Bitterne side of Southampton. The school can also be flexible with timetable and duration, and has a flexible start date (January or Easter 2026). They are looking for someone to join their Computing team.

This role is open to:

  • Qualified Computing Teachers
  • Final-year trainees
  • Unqualified candidates with a strong understanding of Computing and confidence delivering structured, practical lessons

This is a great fit for anyone who enjoys delivering Computing without the coding‑heavy curriculum. The school follows the Cambridge National pathway — practical, structured, and focused on digital skills, projects, and portfolio‑based work rather than programming.

The Role
  • Deliver engaging Computing lessons across KS3–KS4
  • Teach the Cambridge National course (project‑led, practical, no coding required)
  • Support students with clear, structured coursework and portfolio tasks
  • Foster a calm, inclusive classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively within a supportive and forward‑focused team
A Brief Note on the Cambridge National Approach
  • Is practical and coursework‑led
  • Focuses on digital skills and real‑world application
  • Uses structured units and portfolio assessment
  • Does not require coding or programming
What the School Offers
  • A friendly, collaborative department in a school that's genuinely improving
  • Good ICT facilities with plenty of practical scope
  • Strong CPD and mentoring (ECT‑friendly)
  • Flexible start options — January or Easter 2026
  • A positive, supportive culture focused on wellbeing and consistency
Requirements
  • QTS or working towards it
  • Or strong Computing knowledge with the ability to deliver structured KS3–KS4 content
  • Confidence teaching the Cambridge National approach
  • Good organisation, communication, and behaviour management
  • A genuine passion for helping young people develop digital skills

We would love to hear from you if you're a Computing specialist — qualified or unqualified — and want a supportive school where you can make a real difference.
