Job description
Computer Science Teacher (Part-time) - Transform Lives at a Specialist School!

Are you a passionate and empathetic Computer Science Teacher looking to make a profound difference in the lives of young men?

We are seeking an exceptional and dedicated Computer Science Teacher to join our team for 2-3 days a week. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a truly life-changing educational environment where the positive atmosphere and feeling of encouragement are at the heart of everything we do.

About Our School:

We are a specialist school for academically able young men in Key Stage 3 and 4, all with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan identifying Communication and Interaction needs, often associated with Autism. Our students are exceptionally well-behaved, engaged in their learning, and consistently achieve excellent academic results, with many securing GCSEs at Grade 4 and above.

Our vision is aspirational: to transform the lives of our young men. Our mission, known as RICE3, is to provide a unique learning journey for every young man, every day, fostering their Resilience, Independence, and Cooperation by being Encouraged, Enabled, and Empowered. We achieve this through approaches underpinned by Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, with all staff dedicated to these principles.

You’ll join a team of hardworking, empathetic professionals who are committed to continuous learning and development through reflective practice, always putting our students’ best interests first. Our supportive environment extends from our historic 1850s main building to our state-of-the-art, brand new eight-classroom teaching block and extended, light‑filled dining hall.

The progress our young men make, both socially and academically, is exceptional. This success is built on mutually respectful relationships between students and staff, and strong rapport with families. Ultimately, our success lies in our young men’s developing resilience and emerging belief in their own abilities, which sees them encouraged, enabled, and empowered for successful lives beyond our school.

The Role:

We are looking for a qualified (QTS essential) Computer Science Teacher to deliver engaging and effective lessons to our Key Stage 3 and 4 students. You will be instrumental in nurturing their understanding and passion for computer science, adapting your teaching to meet the diverse needs of our students, and contributing to their overall development.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A qualified teacher (QTS is essential).
  • Passionate about Computer Science and inspiring young minds.
  • Empathetic, patient, and understanding of the needs of students with Communication and Interaction needs, including Autism.
  • Dedicated to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
  • Committed to promoting British Values and safeguarding the well-being of all students and staff.
  • Able to build strong, respectful relationships with students and their families.

Why work at Our School?

  • Be part of a truly unique and transformative educational establishment.
  • Work with exceptionally well‑behaved and engaged students.
  • Join a supportive, collaborative, and dedicated staff team.
  • Contribute to the remarkable social and academic progress of our young men.
  • Enjoy a positive and encouraging work environment.

If you are ready to empower young men and contribute to their life‑changing journey, we would love to hear from you!
