Compressor Engineer

Bedford

Full time, permanent

Monday - Friday : 8am – 5pm

Our Bedfordshire based client opened their doors in 1981 to provide local customers with high quality compressed air products and services.

They work across a variety of industries, supplying a wide range of compressed air and gas generation equipment, together with a comprehensive after-sales service and repair capability.

Overview

They are seeking a motivated, energetic and enthusiastic compressor engineer with mechanical and electrical skills who's ready to join a small, close-knit team who want to make a difference.

You’ll mostly work at their customers’ sites within a 30-mile radius of Bedford, with occasional repairs carried out in the Bedford workshop.

You will report directly to the Service Manager who will allocate your daily and weekly schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain, repair, and install compressed air systems and related equipment.
  • Perform diagnostic tests to find and fix system issues, using standard tools and techniques.
  • Work alone at customers’ sites (after training is completed); larger jobs will require multiple engineers.
  • Build trust with customers through clear communication and providing them solutions to their compressed air needs.
  • Log accurate job reports on a timely basis.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments as needed.
Requirements
  • Proven hands-on experience in a similar Service Engineer role with electrical and mechanical skills.
  • Experience in scheduled maintenance, diagnosing breakdowns, and making repairs.
  • Qualifications or training to back-up current experience.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptable to ideas and change.
Desirable
  • Experience working independently on a wide variety of sites.
  • Proven experience with compressed air systems and associated equipment.
  • Relevant qualification(s) in engineering, mechanical, or electrical fields.
  • Experience with using MS software, including Outlook & Office 365, or similar software.
  • Driving licence includes towing a trailer.
