Job Overview

Gi Group is recruiting a Composite Fitter to join the McLaren Composites Technology Centre. The role involves manufacturing composites across moulding, iron­ing, and general assembly within a small, multifunctional team focused on quality, cost control, productivity and safety. Your shift schedule will be Monday to Friday, rotating weekly between 6 am–2 pm and 2 pm–10 pm. The initial contract runs from January 2026 to August 2026, with the potential for a full‑time contract thereafter.

Pay and Hours

• 19.78 £ per hour for up to 40 hours per week
• 29.67 £ per hour for hours beyond 40 and Saturdays
• 39.56 £ per hour for Sunday overtime

Responsibilities
  • Carry out production processes safely and effectively, focusing on bonding, finishing and inspection of composite components.
  • Maintain the highest quality standards on all manufactured composite components.
  • Support the team leader in prioritising work and stepping in when absent.
  • Contribute to the training and development of other team members.
  • Ensure a clean, tidy and safe working environment in line with brand expectations.
  • Proactively develop processes to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Set an example for production operatives and provide support across all departmental processes.
  • Manage demanding deadlines while keeping a focus on quality and safety.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Background in composites, automotive or manufacturing (pre‑preg materials preferred).
  • Experience with air tools, hand tools and adhesives.
  • Understanding of quality issues and Fitting/Assembly manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and initiative under minimum supervision.
  • Excellent communication and attendance skills; flexible for overtime where available.
  • PC‑literaq (MS Office).
  • Proactive, self‑motivated team player with a professional attitude.
