The Role

As Compliance Manager, you will provide hands-on support across data protection, AML/EDD, and operational compliance. You’ll be a key enabler for Partners and client teams, helping them meet regulatory obligations while maintaining robust onboarding and monitoring processes.


Key Responsibilities:

AML / KYC / EDD

  • Triage AML alerts and lead Enhanced Due Diligence for higher-risk clients.
  • Support client onboarding and periodic reviews, advising on further checks or remediation.
  • Keep AML policies and procedures up to date and assist with supplier checks.

Data Protection & DPO Support

  • Lead operational data protection activities, ensuring UK GDPR compliance and supporting DPIAs.
  • Manage Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), coordinating searches, verifying identities, and ensuring timely responses.
  • Maintain training records and recommend improvements to data handling and secure disposal practices.

Mailbox Triage & Operational Queries

  • Manage compliance mailboxes (technical/compliance, whistleblowing/SARs, ethics), prioritising and escalating queries appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate records of actions taken.

Policy, Guidance & Contract Review

  • Draft and circulate compliance updates and practical guidance.
  • Review client-proposed amendments to engagement documents in collaboration with Legal/Finance.

Training & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Deliver or coordinate mandatory and role-specific compliance training.
  • Act as a pragmatic contact for Client Operations, Engagement, and Partners, translating regulations into operational steps.

Monitoring, Record Keeping & Reporting

  • Maintain registers (conflicts, DSARs, AML escalations), produce dashboards, and support internal/external audits.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:

Compliance Specialist:

  • 3–6 years’ experience in compliance, data protection or AML, ideally within accountancy, legal or financial services.
  • Practical experience handling DSARs and strong familiarity with UK GDPR.

AML Expert:

  • Hands-on experience with AML/KYC, including sanctions/PEP screening and EDD.
  • Strong written skills for drafting guidance and client-facing responses.

Organised & Detail-Oriented:

  • Able to manage multiple inboxes and priorities with excellent record-keeping.
