Job description

This is a standout opportunity for an engineer who wants to move beyond being “just another manufacturing engineer” and start building a career in compliance, product approval and high-reliability engineering.

We are recruiting a Compliance & Production Engineer for a growing, export‑focused manufacturer supplying specialist products into high‑security, public sector and international markets. In this environment, products must not only work – they must meet strict technical, regulatory and quality standards. This role plays a key part in making sure they do.

If you have a formal engineering education and 12 months+ experience in manufacturing, production, quality or technical engineering, this is the kind of role that will fast‑track your development into a highly valuable technical specialist.

What makes this different

This is not a narrow, desk‑based compliance role. You will be right in the middle of how products are: designed, tested, approved, manufactured, improved.

You’ll work alongside experienced Technical, Compliance and Production Engineering leaders, gaining exposure to areas that most engineers don’t see until much later in their careers. It’s an ideal step for someone who wants to build a reputation as a go‑to engineer for quality, compliance and manufacturability.

What you’ll be doing

You will support the full lifecycle of products from early prototype through to production and certification.

Compliance & Product Approvals
  • Helping prepare products for third‑party testing and certification
  • Organising in‑house prototype builds and testing
  • Supporting the maintenance of technical files, certificates and compliance records
  • Working with external approval bodies and test houses
  • Keeping track of renewals and changing standards across UK, EU and export markets
Production & Engineering
  • Supporting the transition of new products into manufacture
  • Helping develop and improve how products are built
  • Carrying out process audits on the shop floor
  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency and cost
Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Supporting investigations into product and process failures
  • Helping identify root causes and corrective actions
  • Working with Quality and Production teams to reduce scrap, rework and returns
Who this suits
  • A degree or Level 6 apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • At least 12 months experience in:
    • Manufacturing
    • Production Engineering
    • Quality
    • Compliance
    • Or a technical engineering environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • An interest in how products are tested, approved and controlled
  • A mindset geared towards problem‑solving and continuous improvement

You don’t need to be a compliance expert yet but you do need the engineering foundation and the ambition to become one.

The role is an excellent opportunity for someone on the upward curve of their career, wanting to join an evolving Design & Manufacturing firm that can offer a clear pathway into senior engineering, compliance or technical leadership role.

Our client is investing in someone it can develop into a core technical specialist. As the product range and export markets grow, so will the responsibility and influence of this role.

For the right engineer, this is not just a job – it’s the start of a long‑term technical career in a high‑performance manufacturing environment.
