Key Responsibilities
- Monitor bimonthly Site Health and Safety Meetings: Prepare meeting presentation with data and news from the site and from the group. Create analytical reports on safety data to share with site team
- Conduct and encourage Safety Conversations and Safe Checks: Carry out regular safety conversations and safe checks across the plant to improve safety awareness among the employees at all levels. Support Department Managers and Line Managers to do the same conduct detailed reviews of data collected and provide suggestions to site management team for improvements.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Maintain and ensure adherence to Heidelberg Materials UK IMS procedures, Undertake gap analysis reviews and support site management with internal and external audits.
- Monitor bimonthly IMS Reviews and IMS audit actions: Prepare meeting agenda, list of pending actions and support scheduling with plant team
- Regular update of Near Hit Map: support the input of incidents onto the system, analyse data provide statistics to management. Each near hit to be tracked on near hit maps on the site
- Risk Assessments & Mitigation: Provide administrative support ensuring proactive risk assessments are undertaken, reviewed and updated, To assist management in identifying potential hazards, and work with teams to implement appropriate solutions and preventive measures.
- Provide administrative support in Accident and Incident Investigations: promote the collection of evidence and data in line with the digital recording system. ensuring that lessons are learned safety alerts/ flashes and completed from SHE reviews, and corrective actions are taken to avoid future occurrences. Make sure all Investigations reported in Intelex completed on time
- Safety Training & Awareness: In cooperation with Production Assistant, make sure that all safety training to employees online is completed on time, and refreshers done on time. Develop TBT and other onsite training tools to improve safety awareness
- Emergency Preparedness: In cooperation with Shift Managers and Department Managers, oversee and coordinate emergency response plans, including training, drills, and ensuring all team members are prepared for potential emergencies.
- Documentation & Reporting: Create a well-organized Safety Database in Ketton IMS page. Keep accurate records of safety audits and Near Hits, with associated action plans, incident reports, risk assessments, and safety training to ensure compliance and best practice reporting.
- PPE & Safety Equipment: Cooperate with the Stores management to ensure the availability, proper use, and maintenance of all personal protective equipment (PPE) for workers and contractors on site. Track PPE usage. Undertake PPE audits ensuring correct PPE is worn, utilised and correctly maintained
- Housekeeping: Cooperate with other departments to organise and monitor site housekeeping day and monitor actions
- Collaboration & Support: Collaborate with plant management, HR, and operations teams to integrate safety measures into everyday activities and decision-making processes. Participate daily, weekly and monthly meetings with the plant management team
- Support management in generating and updating job safety programmes for employees that encompass HM IMS System company standards for safety in the workplace. Train employees on the importance of health and safety on the job.
Required Skills and Experience
- Be First Aider, Mental First Aider and participate in Site Rescue team
- Good Admin skills
- A good understanding of UK health and safety regulations and the HM IMS system and the ability to apply them practically in the workplace.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and train colleagues at all levels.
- A proactive, organized, and methodical approach to work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- A passion for improving safety standards and making the workplace a better place for all.
- Comfort with conducting site inspections, which may involve walking on uneven ground, using ladders, and navigating around plant equipment.
- Ability to wear and ensure the proper use of PPE (e.g., hard hats, safety boots, gloves, etc.) in accordance with safety guidelines.
Education and Qualifications
- A degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not essential).
- Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or other safety qualifications.
