Job description

An exciting opportunity to be part of RCHT's groundbreaking community car x-ray service. You will visit patients that require acute x-ray imaging in the community. This Band 6 Radiography post requires a radiographer with experience of adapting technique, to gain best possible images in a variety of locations and situations. An ability to perform dynamic risk assessments also essential.

The successful candidate will split their time between the x‑ray car service and x‑ray department at our hospital, MIU, and CDC sites. There is an expectation that the post holder will support an Agenda for Change compliant 24‑hour 7‑day roster, including bank/public holidays as required.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Imaging Service is county‑wide, offering patients high quality diagnostics in their local community, as well as services at The Royal Cornwall Hospital and peripheral sites. The successful candidate will contribute to the day to day running of the x‑ray community car and the x‑ray department by planning, organising and prioritising the workload, thus ensuring an efficient and effective throughput of patients.

The Cornwall imaging departments provide clinical placements for student radiographers from Exeter and Plymouth universities, are a training site for radiologists. We are also actively developing our apprenticeship programmes, in conjunction with our local HEIs, in radiography and wider healthcare settings. Our team has a wide skill mix delivering the service and this includes assistant practitioners, advanced practitioners (including reporting radiographers), consultant radiographers, clinical imaging assistants and support workers in all modalities and we are committed to developing the knowledge and skills of the entire radiographic workforce.

You will be a valuable member of the team in the provision of a quality led timely imaging service. We actively support and encourage all imaging staff in their career development and aspirations and are committed to providing opportunities to widen specialist skills, extend roles and deliver advanced practice.
