Job description
Overview

Are you a registered nurse with community experience looking to work in a supportive and friendly community team? Are you a newly or soon to qualify nurse wondering whether you can continue to build your skills and knowledge working in a community setting? Do you want to work in a dynamic team that encourages staff to flourish and reach their potential?

The Royston Integrated Community Team is an expanding and evolving service. We provide a wide range of nursing-led care to people within their own homes. As a nurse in our team, you will be supported to develop and broaden your skill set through an extensive training and education programme, including personal and professional development opportunities such as the PgDip Specialist Community Nursing course.

We operate 8am – 10pm, 365 days a year, and offer flexible working patterns. We are happy to consider full or part-time applicants and aim to support a healthy work-life balance. A full valid driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Responsibilities

Successful applicants will be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised nursing care for patients living in the community. They will need to support the Nursing Sisters of the team to manage the caseload and support junior staff. They will also contribute to health promotion teaching and training to optimise patients’ ability to self-manage their health needs and engage them in maintaining their wellbeing.

Our nurses are committed to teamwork, have good communication and decision-making skills, and work collaboratively with other professionals within HCT and beyond. We aim to provide a high standard of patient care using an evidence-based framework.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with community experience; newly or soon to qualify nurses are welcome.
  • Full NMC registration (including OSCE) for overseas applicants; if full registration is not held, the application will not be successful.
  • A current driving licence and access to a car for business use (unless exempt by the Equality Act 2010).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
Training and Induction

We provide access to an extensive training and education programme and personal and professional development opportunities, including the PgDip Specialist Community Nursing course. A monthly peer reflection and training forum is available for newly qualified staff, and there is a trust-wide preceptorship programme to develop CPD portfolios and skills. All staff joining the team are provided with a thorough 4–6 week induction period and will have the chance to shadow various roles before working independently.

Environment and Benefits

Royston Integrated Community Team is a Gold Accredited Team. We are a supporting, friendly environment with a focus on settling new staff and providing protected time for integration into the team.

We welcome diversity and are interested in applicants from all backgrounds and ages.
