Job description
Overview

Please note that this role is advertised on behalf of Atlas BFW Management Ltd (Atlas), a wholly‑owned subsidiary of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Successful applicant(s) will be on Atlas terms and conditions. For further information about Atlas, please visit www.bfwml.co.uk. The post holder will contribute to the provision of an efficient transport service to Atlas clients, primarily to NHS properties in Lancaster, Blackpool, Kendal, Barrow and surrounding districts.

Responsibilities include routine and complex maintenance work across various premises in Lancaster, Morecambe, Blackpool and surrounding districts. The post holder must work effectively on own initiative, planning and organising maintenance activities, and collaborate with trade groups, contractors and in‑house training staff.

Key Duties
  • Provide an effective and efficient maintenance and repair service to all plumbing installations, including hot and cold water services, mains distribution, gas services, boilers, space heating systems, water storage tanks, sanitary fittings and firefighting equipment.
  • Install and acceptance‑test new systems and equipment as required.
  • Work safely in hazardous areas and confined spaces, complying with Trust policy and safe working procedures.
  • Interpret detailed technical manuals, diagnose faults, repair specialist engineering facilities, assist in commissioning, problem‑solve new technical services, and communicate technical knowledge to others.
  • Stay conversant with the latest edition of the electrical safety code for low‑voltage systems for competent persons (LV).
  • Actively participate in the operation of the works helpdesk, including timely completion of work dockets.
  • Undertake essential repair work and general maintenance activities at the request of the Community Estates Manager.
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance inspections and commissioning tests in accordance with Trust procedures and schedules.
  • Document maintenance inspections and test certificates as necessary.
  • Work with engineering/technical drawings and specifications.
  • Inspect pre‑installations and investigate services required for new equipment, carrying out minor installation improvements.
  • Notify the Community Estates Manager or equivalent of any safety‑related problems within Trust premises, complete accident forms, and cooperate with investigations.
  • Comply with all health & safety, access, security, and governance requirements, including BFW Management Ltd Constitution, Codes of Conduct, and relevant NHS and Government regulations.
  • Participate in staff development, appraisal and training, including continuous professional development.
  • Contribute to the wider development of the function and service improvement as required.
