Community Organiser (PEACE PLUS)

We manage over 13,000 homes and support around 40,000 tenants, delivering a wide range of housing solutions including general needs, sheltered housing, support accommodation, and homes for families with complex needs.

Fixed term 35 months

Choice is seeking to appoint a Community Organiser. This person will fully participate in and contribute to the Common Ground project towards supporting stronger, safer and more stable communities through the promotion of understanding, mutual respect and community participation.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in and contribute to the Common Ground project to support stronger, safer and more stable communities through the promotion of understanding, mutual respect and community participation.
Essential criteria
  • Degree/Third level qualification and two years’ demonstrable relevant experience as a practitioner in a Community or Voluntary sector setting or Housing/Tenant Engagement Setting

OR

  • Educated to ‘A’ Level standard (or equivalent) with three years’ demonstrable relevant experience as a practitioner in a Community Relations/Community Development/Housing role

OR

  • Five years’ demonstrable relevant experience as a practitioner in a Community or Voluntary sector setting or Housing/Tenant Engagement Setting may also be considered
AND (Applicable to all)
  • Good understanding/experience of community development and of communities across NI and ROI
  • Good knowledge/experience of building effective working relationships within/between communities
  • Good knowledge/experience of how best to engage with internal and external stakeholders
  • Good knowledge/experience of how to engage effectively with hard to reach/easy to forget target groups
  • Flexibility and ability to work irregular hours on an occasional basis as required
  • Full current driving license and access to a car
