The Berkshire Community Dietetic Service has an opportunity to offer a permanent Band 5 Community Dietitian role.

The post holder will be covering a community caseload, including providing dietetic care to nursing home patients via the Care Home Support Team, training to nursing staff, outpatient clinics, community inpatient ward input, paediatric triage, patients requiring nutritional support or enteral nutrition in nursing homes and their own homes. Main duties of the job

Working under the guidance of the Care Home Support Lead Dietitian, to provide dietetic care to a varied and diverse caseload of patients in the community as outlined above.

Travelling to and providing care at various sites including but not limited to community hospitals, patients' homes, nursing homes, GP practices and some home working.

Delivering a proportion of care using online platforms e.g. OneConsultation, MS Teams and Webex

Involvement in departmental research activity and quality improvement project work

Contribute to service improvement conversations in dedicated meetings

Education/Qualifications/Training
  • An undergraduate or a postgraduate degree in Nutrition & Dietetics
  • UK registered with Health Professional Council
  • Member of the British Dietetic Association
Continuous Professional Development
  • Attended clinical Supervisory Skills course for student training
  • Completed specialist training pre or post registration e.g. FODMAP, paediatrics, behaviour change training
Previous Experience (as a dietitian or student)
  • Experience of working in a variety of dietetic settings/patient groups and partnership working with other HCPs
  • Experience in delivering group education/sessions
  • Experience in carrying out research or clinical audit
  • Previous involvement with providing student placements
  • Previous experience using virtual platforms for patient consultations
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Is able to demonstrate high levels of personal organisation, and the ability and keep track of competing clinical priorities and administrative tasks
  • Is able to demonstrate a good understanding of general dietetics
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work from home at times with access to WiFi (using IT equipment provided by BHFT)
  • Ability to travel efficiently to multiple sites and domiciliary visits across Berkshire during working day as required in job plan
