Overview:
  • Part-time contract: – 2.5 Days per week initial 6 months contract (potential to extend); freelance contract considered

  • Salary: €40,000 – €49,000 per year (pro rata)

Job Description

We seek a collaborative and experienced Communications Manager with a strong understanding of new economic thinking and practice, to drive forward both our communications strategy and day to day comms delivery, with guidance from our Field Building and Communications Lead.

This role is about planning and delivering compelling digital comms for Partners for a New Economy, developing our audiences and representing the organisation, its grantees, key stakeholders and the new economy field itself, within which we operate and are a part.

Responsibilities
Strategy and Day-to-Day Delivery
  • Working closely with the Field Building and Comms Lead, produce and deliver an annual communications plan and strategy supporting the whole of P4NE to coordinate comms efforts to key audiences across multiple channels
  • Publication of P4NE’s monthly Roundup newsletter: curating content, copy writing and designing on Mailchimp
  • Creating and publishing regular social media content, coordinating the team’s input and input from our grantees and wider partners to build engagement (currently LinkedIn)
  • Refreshing, maintaining and updating P4NE’s website (wordpress). Including writing or coordinating publication of regular news articles, blogs, grant-making updates and other publications
Content & Campaigns
  • Creating and curating content for different audiences and supporting communication of discrete projects/campaigns, using writing and curatorial skills to launch or tell compelling stories about our work, the new economy ecosystem and the people and organisations who work within it
  • Supporting the Partnership Development Lead to create content about specific initiatives and opportunities for P4NE’s current and prospective funder partners
  • Gathering input from the Programme Officer and our grantee organisations, to support comms that spotlights grantee activity and partnerships. Creating and circulating comms related to P4NE’s field building activity and Annual Gathering, under the direction of the Field Building & Comms Lead, supporting a comms campaign in support of this key annual event
  • Assisting the creation and publishing of public documents and strategic comms, such the Annual Report, collaborating with the team and utilising the comms library created across the year
  • Supporting the design and delivery of commissioned video and visual content for specific P4NE events, research or one-off initiatives
  • Supporting the development of an online New Economy Leaders Academy (NELA) alumni community (via a LinkedIn Group and email)
General
  • Maintain accurate records of key comms contacts on the P4NE CRM, Beacon
  • Attend weekly team meetings (digital) and quarterly in-person meetings
  • Must be able to attend in-person quarterly team meetings (most often held in London).
  • Contribute to quarterly reports to our Board
  • As an integral part of the P4NE team, the Freelance Communications Consultant should be willing to contribute to various other activities to support the organisation as required
  • Update the Comms plan and activity grid on the internal Planner Documents (eg MIRO), to keep the team informed.

The role will be home-based and can be done flexibly, so the ability to work independently is important.

Role Requirements
Essential Experience & Knowledge
  • Substantial experience in a communications role, both designing communications strategies and delivering day to day communications
  • Knowledge and understanding of new economy thinking and practice
  • Knowledge of, and experience creating digital content, on various platforms including LinkedIn, Wordpress and Mailchimp
  • Considerable writing, storytelling and editing skills and track record developing engaging, accessible and creative content
  • Exceptional project management, time management and proven ability to prioritise a variety of communications demands and projects.
Desirable Experience and Knowledge
  • Newsletter writing and editing
  • New Economy related journalism or communications experience
  • Article or speech writing and research; copy-writing and editing; ideally for new economy sector
  • Visual design skills and video content creation (eg. On Canva or Adobe)
  • Understanding of grant-making and fund-raising
  • Experience of working internationally, across different time zones.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English required, with good oral and written communication skills; ability to work in additional languages
  • Experience of working for a not-for-profit organisation

  • Willingness and ability to deliver organisational support and adapt to a variety of tasks as needed, in order to deliver P4NE strategy within the context of this role
