Job description

We're looking for a talented, proactive Communications Manager to join our growing team at The Hill Group. In this unique and varied role, you'll play a key part in shaping how we communicate - both within our business and beyond. For the first year, you'll lead our internal communications and events, helping to connect and engage our people through clear messaging, great storytelling, and memorable experiences. After this period, the role will evolve to focus on external communications, supporting our brand visibility, media relations, and reputation as one of the UK's most trusted and award‑winning housebuilders. This is an exciting opportunity for a versatile communications professional who can think strategically, write brilliantly, and collaborate confidently – someone who is as comfortable crafting internal campaigns as creating compelling content for external audiences.

Why Hill? We're a top UK housebuilder, known for quality, innovation, and lasting impact. Our values – Ambition, Collaboration, Impact, Agility – guide every decision we make.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning and delivery of internal communications, ensuring alignment with Hill's values and People Strategy.
  • Lead the creation and delivery of News at Hill, The Insider, and regular News, People and Safety Wires.
  • Plan and source content for internal publications, drafting articles, obtaining photography, and working with directors and the CEO's EA.
  • Be the custodian of The Hub, ensuring daily and weekly updates, and training colleagues in its use.
  • Engage and support Viva Engage champions to drive wider platform participation.
  • Manage all‑staff meetings (in‑person and online), including venue booking, catering, AV, agenda creation, speaker liaison, and follow‑up communications.
  • Coordinate and oversee nominations, communications and logistics for Customer Service and Corporate Values Awards, including liaison with HR for recognition and payments.
  • Deliver Hill's biennial Supply Chain Awards – managing venue booking, branding, video content, table plans, presenters, and agencies.
  • Plan and coordinate internal engagement events across offices and sites, ensuring effective displays, room bookings, and catering.
  • Oversee and support the delivery of corporate and press events by the Senior Events Coordinator.
  • Oversee the Communications Coordinator's delivery of corporate hospitality ticketing and bookings.
  • Produce or coordinate materials such as development brochures and event collateral.
  • Support the creation and coordination of event videos and internal campaign visuals, in partnership with the Marketing team.
Qualifications
  • Experience in communications and event management (in‑house or agency)
  • Strong writing and editorial skills for both print and digital platforms
  • Confident working with CMS and intranet tools
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and campaigns to deadline
  • A collaborative, positive communicator with stakeholder management experience
  • Line management experience (preferred)
  • Experience with intranet platforms – e.g. SharePoint (preferred)
  • Experience with InDesign (a bonus, not essential)
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office and familiar with CRM database coordination
  • High attention to detail, creative mindset, and solutions‑focused approach
  • Experience within construction or property sectors (a bonus, not essential)
Benefits
  • 26 days holiday (plus bank holidays)
  • Private healthcare and well‑being platform
  • Hill Incentive scheme and retail discounts
  • Volunteering days and continuous learning opportunities
  • A high‑performing and supportive team culture
