Job description

Communication Support Worker

Grade 5 (SCP 12 - 15) BSL level 3 (£14.82 to £15.56 per hour) and Grade 6 (SCP 16 - 22) BSL level 6 (£15.82 to £17.47 per hour). Full time equivalent per annum: £28,598 - £33,699 (pro‑rated for 10 hours per week).

Contract: Fixed term linked to a specific pupil, 10 hours per week from February 2025 (term‑time only plus INSET days).

Working hours: 13:00 – 15:00 Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Bridge the communication barrier between a pupil who uses British Sign Language and hearing peers/adults to ensure inclusion.
  • Deliver teacher input through combining British Sign Language and speech in all curriculum areas.
  • Adapt activities, resources and materials to ensure pupil inclusion.
  • Develop and progress the pupil’s expressive and receptive sign and spoken English.
Qualifications & Experience

Highly motivated individual, BSL level 3 qualified (minimum) with experience working with adults or children who are deaf. Experience with BSL is preferred.
