🔧 The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven SR141 Authorised Engineer to join our Energy Business. You’ll play a critical role in testing and commissioning electrical Protection & Control Systems — from modifications of existing systems through to full replacements and new installations.

This is a high‑impact role, suitable for experienced Commissioning Engineers with current or previous National Grid SR141 authorisation. You’ll split your time between our Stone Head Office and client sites across the UK, working on projects that keep the nation’s energy infrastructure running safely and reliably.

📋 Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and complete site acceptance testing and commissioning activities for HV substations (132kV–400kV).
  • Perform functional and performance testing of protection systems, control systems, panels, and secondary equipment.
  • Witness and support factory acceptance testing.
  • Attend NG SR106 Commissioning Panel Meetings and provide technical input.
  • Produce and manage commissioning documentation, including switching programmes, method statements, test reports, and handover records.
  • Deploy and verify configuration files to SCADA BCUs, RTUs, protection relays, and network devices.
  • Lead site teams, enforce safety standards, and ensure compliance with CDM regulations.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues during commissioning and energisation phases.
✅ Candidate Profile
  • Qualified or experienced in Electrical Engineering.
  • Current or previous National Grid SR141 (BP141 / TP141) authorisation is essential.
  • Extensive experience commissioning HV substations, protection & control systems, and grid infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, relays, grid codes, and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (IEC61850, GOOSE, Ethernet, fibre optic, serial copper).
  • Skilled in documentation, configuration deployment, and SCADA systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
