Overview
As a Start Up Commissioning Engineer you will be aligned to the Start Up, Commissioning and Pre-Operations delivery team throughout the project lifecycle. You will identify and develop testing/validation requirements and pre-operational work scope during the design phase, write documentation and execute activities in line with established Start up, Commissioning and Pre-Operations processes. You will collaborate with internal multidisciplinary project delivery teams and interface with external stakeholders/vendors. You will utilise your experience in your specific engineering discipline to ensure that commissioning is executed to demonstrate the safe performance of the facility and the safe delivery of Start Up, Commissioning, and Pre-Operations work scope through the project lifecycle at various locations as required.
Responsibilities
- Production of and contribution to Test and Pre-Operational Documentation.
- Production of Plant Test Schedule, including knowledge of Requirements Management (able to interrogate Engineering Schedule, Verification & Validation requirements, interpret TRAM requirements, etc).
- Attend and contribute to design reviews including developing the detail of temporary systems to enable commissioning.
- Carry out testing/validation activities throughout all stages of project delivery.
- Identification of faults and ability to propose and implement solutions through the Fault Observation Process (FOBs).
- Witnessing of test/validation activities.
- Recording results and data in support of Start-up, Commissioning and Pre-operations activities.
- Validation of working level instructions.
- Application and removal of temporary Commissioning aids.
- Development and delivery of asset care, preservation and maintenance to satisfy pre-operational, engineering and operational requirements.
- Provide input into other project workstreams to ensure that start up, commissioning and pre-operational requirements are included and delivered (e.g., Design, Safety Case, Procurement, Construction & Completions, Project Controls).
- Ensure training and experience is maintained in order to hold relevant appointments where necessary for project delivery (e.g., Commissioning Appointments, Electrical Appointments, Mechanical Appointments).
- Provide work scope delivery progress as required by Start-Up, Commissioning and Pre-Operations reporting processes.
Qualifications
- Recognised apprenticeship and/or ONC/Level 3 qualification in relevant discipline and able to present qualification certification.
- Demonstration of successful delivery of work in an Engineering/technical role.
- Willing and able to travel on extended stays to various locations other than Sellafield Site in West Cumbria, the wider UK and, on occasion, overseas to meet demands of the Project delivery.
- Computer literate (MS applications including Word, Excel) with evidence of producing test documentation and reports.
- Experience in fault finding within a technical, engineering or operational environment.
Desirables
- Experienced in Commissioning Engineer role.
- HNC/Level 4 qualification in relevant discipline and able to present qualification certification.
- IEng professional registration with Engineering Council.
- Experience in producing Start Up, Commissioning and Pre-Operations documentation.
