Overview

As a Commis Chef, you will support the senior kitchen team with food preparation and day-to-day kitchen duties, while learning essential culinary techniques and maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join the Kyubi Kitchen team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior chef who is eager to learn, develop their skills, and gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen environment. A genuine interest in cooking and developing a career in hospitality. Willingness to learn and follow instructions. A positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities
  • Support senior chefs with daily food preparation tasks
  • Follow recipes and instructions accurately
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation across all work areas
  • Ensure food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards are followed at all times
  • Learn and develop core kitchen skills under the guidance of senior chefs
  • Assist with basic food preparation including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients
  • Help prepare simple dishes, garnishes, and sauces under supervision
  • Keep workstations, equipment, and utensils clean and sanitised
  • Support the kitchen team during service as required
  • Assist with stock rotation, labelling, and correct food storage
  • Carry out daily cleaning duties as directed
  • Report any equipment faults or food safety concerns to senior chefs
Health, Safety & Hygiene
  • Comply with all food hygiene, health & safety, and fire safety regulations
  • Maintain excellent personal hygiene standards
  • Assist with food safety documentation when required
